City Hunter is set to return with a brand new animated movie scheduled to hit Japanese cinemas in spring 2019!
City Hunter is adapted from Houjou Tsukasa’s crime fighting comedy manga. Originally published in 1985, City Hunter first received a TV anime in 1987 with 140 episodes, three specials, and three movies produced so far. In 2017, the franchise celebrated the 30th anniversary of the TV anime adaptation.
The upcoming movie will feature an entirely new story set in contemporary Shinjuku. Original voice actors Kamiya Akira and Ikura Kazue will be reprising their roles as Saeba Ryo and Makimura Kaori respectively. Sunrise is to produce the anime, with the TV series’ chief animation director Kodama Kenji directing while Yokai Watch’s Kato Yoichi will handle scripts.
City Hunter: The Movie is scheduled for release in spring 2019.
